Planning a party is actually quite easy....
...Hosting a fabulous afternoon, evening or night of great entertainment doesn't have to be difficult either ...
Use this quick and easy Top-5 checklist to cover the essential basics for a party to be remembered... For the right reasons ;)
1. The Date
One of the first steps in your planning journey is to decide on a suitable date for your party.
Picking a date that is suitable for all your guests is almost an impossibility as, undoubtedly, somebody will have work or other prior commitments. One easy way to find a convenient date for you and the majority of your guests is to create an event on social media sites such as FaceBook. This way, you and your guests can leave messages and interact with eachother with suggestions, comments and ideas, bringing everyone together collectively planning a great party!
Once you have chosen the date for your party, you should then consider the venue
(This should be considered along with your proposed date, as some venues charge a premium for weekend hire). Your venue could range from a Hotel Function Room, Village Hall, Sports Venue or even your own home! each has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Here are a few to consider of each venue:
Hotel Function Room
Are you wanting to wrap things up early or party into the small hours?
FREE to use, but..... Remember to think about how many parking spaces you will need for your guests...
Football Ground, Cricket Club, Golf Club, Yacht Club. Most of these venues are often overlooked, but can provide a great place for you and your guests to enjoy.
Do you want 'Exclusive Use' of the venue...?
Are you supplying the alcohol? Should your guests bring their own? Or do you want a waiter/bar to serve you cold beers?
Now you have a date and your venue sorted, it's time to think about catering
This may be dependent upon your choice of venue also, as some Hotels may specify that they supply the food for the event. However, some may allow outside caterers. You may decide you want to make the food yourself. Mostly though, an outside caterer is the preferred option.
You should consider your guests when organising their food. Do they have any special dietary requirements? Allergies? Religious restrictions? Are they Vegetarian or Vegan? A good way to find this out is by asking directly and individually, or making use of social media such as FaceBook to create an event/page where you can also ask your guests about their preference.
Popular party food includes various sandwiches, crisps, cheeses, chips, sausage rolls and pork pies. Other ideas include Burgers, Hot Dogs, Pizzas, Curries, Various cooked meats (chicken legs, pork joint, beef joint), Chili and jacket potatoes. Why not go the whole 'hog' with a specialist Hog Roast?
You've got them fed, now get them watered
Are you allowing alcohol to be consumed at your event? If you've chosen to hold your party in a hotel then there's little else to think about. However, if you're wanting to make use of a village hall or similar, you're going to need to supply the drinks!
Do you want the drinks to be Hot/Cold? Most village halls have a kettle for hot drinks but limited (if any) fridge apace to keep anything cool. Are you happy to buy the drinks for your party, or let your guests bring their own? More often than not, a professional bar with waited service is less hassle!
Give your guests something to enjoy and remember
So, what's going to happen once your guests arrive? Sure they'll chat amongst themselves, but what makes the difference between a good party and a GREAT PARTY...? The ENTERTAINMENT!
Playing music is the simplest form of entertainment but, being realistic, anyone can play a CD or MP3 playlist at home. To really WOW your guests, consider booking some entertainment!
Sure, a DJ can play song after song but where's the WOW factor? You're wanting to create a memorable evening of Class Entertainment....
Your guests walk into the venue with some subtle background music playing.... Not too loud (they still want to meet, greet, mingle and chat), but enough to set the scene and create a nice relaxed atmosphere.
As the meal/buffet is served, the Award Winning Live Entertainment begins against a backdrop of shimmering white lights and a soft, warm glow of colour changing 'spot' lights. Some Cool Lounge Classics softly entertain your guests as they dine in an atmosphere oozing with class.
A brief interlude after dinner to allow everyone time to replenish their drinks and the entertainment returns with some Big Swing Hits to get the party started!
